Today we launched Writer's Workshop and talked about how we will be spending a lot of time writing in third grade . One of the tools we will be using most in the workshop is our writer's notebook. For homework today, you will have the chance to decorate your writer's notebook.
Design your Writer's Notebook
This is, after all, YOUR book. This is a place for your thoughts and your ideas. This notebook should LOOK like the REAL YOU.
Some of the best notebooks seem to have photos of people, places, or things they love. Some notebooks have stickers and some have cut-out letters from the newspaper.
We love to see a lot of different kinds of things on your notebooks. That tells us that you really thought about these questions:
Who am I?
What do I love?
What stories do I have to tell?
How can I show that on this cover?
THERE IS ONLY ONE RULE:
Anything you paste, stick, or glue to your notebook should be FLAT and SHOULD BE IMPORTANT TO YOU. (We carry these notebooks EVERYWHERE, so 3D stuff usually fall off. Also, there is nothing worse than a notebook that has stickers all over it but they really don't matter to you.)
Come to school ready to share a few decorations and why you chose them! We can't wait to see them!
