Here is a report by David Lee on some beetles he found near his house.
WELL DONE DAVID!
All About Beetles
By David Lee
The beetles I found were June beetles.
They are called June beetles because they come out in June.
Most of them live in North American, but they are also found in other countries.
They eat plant and sweet water.
June beetles live for 2 years under the ground and 2 years on the trees.
Their life cycle has 4 stages: egg, larva, pupa and adult.
June bugs have different colors.
Mine have dark brown color.
They have hard wings.
June beetles are food for toads and lizards.
I found my beetles on the ground outside.
I made them a home by putting soil and sticks in a plastic bottle.
Then I put fresh leaves for their food.
I put the beetles inside and covered the bottle with plastic wrap.
I use tooth pick to make holes, so they can breathe.
At day time they hide under the soil. They eat leaves at night. I named my
beetles Apple 1 and Apple 2.
